Becoming a Verified Account Holder

While setting up and account and getting started is simple and you can start to receive donations for your projects immediately, at some stage you will need to set up an account with the payment gateway Stripe, if you don’t already have one, so that we can process donations and deposit in to your bank.

We choose to work with Stripe as their fees are lower than Paypal, and they have just made things so much easier to work with.

Here is a simple to follow video explaining this short process:

Setting up Stripe

The easiest way to so this is to head to the ‘Funding Details’ tab in your account and click the link that says ‘Connect with Stripe’.

The following box should appear. If you don’t already have a Stripe account, click the link that says ‘Don’t have an account? Sign Up’.

Activate Stripe

Here you will enter your personal details and bank

account information.

Since you are taking donations from people, Stripe treats you like a small business So will ask for business details. Just name your ‘business after your project or group name’ eg. ‘Transport fundraiser’. You can also use your personal address and the link to your Project for your ‘Business Website’ or simply put www.contribute.co.nz

Make sure you select ‘Individual/ Sole Trader’.

Once this is done Stripe is all ready to process payments for you.

One this form is filled out and you allow access to contribute, your contribute account should automatically be linked.

Verifying Account

There is one more step you will need to do in order for Stripe to deposit the funds in to your bank account. And that is become a VERIFIED ACCOUNT HOLDER of Stripe. This is simple and just requires logging in to your Stripe dashboard.

Within this dashboard you can view pay outs etc.

At the bottom of the list on the left you’ll see ‘Business Settings’.

Find the Verify Now button and follow the instructions to verify that you are a real person.

We realize this is all a little onerous, but we must keep things legal and secure. Once you have done all of that, you will not have to repeat this, and you can create as many ‘Projects’ as you like!

You can log in to your Stripe dashboard any time to check the progress of your payments. But please be aware, it may take up to 7 days from the end of a project to process the donations and deposit in your bank account.
